I had the privilege to watch Suzume by Makoto Shinkai in theatre and if you have ever watched any of shinkai movies you know the animation is breath taking and by the title I think it’s understandable, this movie was just a huge flex by him. I don’t know I just did not get the same level of satisfaction as I got from watching his previous works like Your Name,

5 centimeters per second just to name a few, even Weathering with you for me was a pretty forgettable movie.

When the movie began I soon realized the biggest problem that the movie had which was it started to force me to get involved in the characters and the story but that’s not how I know he does his movies like.

In garden of words and Your Name you had spent a good amount of time with the characters to get involved and interested in the story. However, in suzume trying not to spoil it but you were introduced to the main protagonist and suddenly the story starts and you are supposed to care about the character and story I was like wait this is too quick for me to care about this character atleast let me get involved with them before you start to make me feel like I should be invested in them.

So yeah overall it was a good movie in its own term, the animation and art style was absolutely amazing! The character designs and voice acting was great and the one liners really set the mood good between serious and funny. All the voice actors in the film were new with no previous anime work *sources anilist* and it feel really good.

However the only problem which I personally had was the story was a little rushed and wanting to make me care for the characters which were hardly introduced 15 minutes ago. But if you do get a chance to watch it in theatres you should do it as the animation, sound track and cinematography was absolutely fantastic!

The soundtrack by RADWIMPS was just so amazing that I spent my entire time in credits just listening to it and it felt so good. To me that was the best part of the entire movie. I appreciate the work of Makoto Shinkai and this movie was good in its own way and many of my friends have enjoyed so yeah give it a shot and tell me how you feel about it. And until next time Stay Safe, Stay Comfy! :D
